Whatever your transit time, we've got an unforgettable Dubai itinerary for you.
Less than four hours
With less than a few hours, you may not have a chance to leave the airport and get back in time for your connecting flight. Don't fret, because the Dubai International (DXB) airport is actually a pretty great place to spend your layover. With over 30,000sqm of retail space, those looking for some relaxing retail therapy can revel in the numerous brands housed there. From cosmetics to confectionary and electronics to books, Dubai Duty Free can't be beat. Take a dip in the on-site swimming pool, or experience the pure luxury of the premium lounges.
Between four and eight hours
If time is tight, it’s important to get your priorities right. Luckily, a visit to Downtown Dubai will ensure you tick off a few sights in one go. Take a 15-minute taxi ride to Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world. It's best to plan ahead and book a time slot in advance, so you can head straight up to the observation deck on Level 124 and see one of the most breathtaking views. While you're in the Downtown neighbourhood, you can also visit The Dubai Mall for more family fun and shopping, or refuel at Time Out Market next door that features the very best of Dubai dining under one roof.
Between eight and 15 hours
After Downtown's highlights, your next goal should be getting a taste of old Dubai by taking a trip to the traditional souks. Situated on the banks of the Creek, Dubai's souks are at the centre of the city's heritage and history of trade. If you have a bit more time to spare, pay a visit to the Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood. Afterwards cross the waters of the creek onboard a traditional abra for just AED1, and head out for more souk shopping with gold, spices, textiles and souvenirs available in the winding alleyways of Deira.
Overnight stopover
Make the most of your overnight stopover by staying at one of the city's trendiest hotels, 25hours Hotel One Central. With colourful and quirky interiors, popular restaurants and even a rooftop pool, you'll love being based at this Downtown gem. Best of all? It overlooks the grand Museum of the Future, widely lauded as one of the most beautiful buildings in the world. We advise booking tickets well in advance. If you've timed your visit for the morning, enjoy a leisurely breakfast afterwards at Leen's, a casual cafe full of delicious classics right next door at Emirates Towers.
