with marine biodiversity
About the project
A sustainable initiative by Dubai Can, Dubai Reef is the world’s largest marine reef development project. As part of the initiative, 20,000 purpose-built reef modules will be deployed across Dubai waters over the course of four years, leaving a lasting legacy by supporting fish populations and environmental stewardship.
Environmental goals
The key drivers of Dubai Reef include enhancing biodiversity, safeguarding Dubai’s coastal and marine habitats, supporting fish populations and increasing ecosystem resilience. The project will also encourage environmental stewardship, strengthen socio-economic prosperity and ecotourism, and preserve the city's marine heritage. Dubai Reef marks a collaboration uniting key partners from public and private sectors to support the wider strategic goals and ambitions of Dubai and the UAE.
Economic boost
Alongside the environmental benefits, Dubai Reef will advance a new stream of green economy projects. It will boost the city's job market and open doors for exciting partnerships, eco-tourism, leisure activities and research opportunities while emphasising the importance of our rich marine heritage. Dubai Reef is just one of the latest initiatives to drive responsible tourism and increase the city’s positive social impact for residents and visitors alike.
