Guide to Dubai in August: Weather, travel tips and events

Dedicated sun-seekers will love summer in Dubai during August, where you can expect plenty of warm days. It tends to be the hottest month of the year in the city, typically ranging from 33°C to 40°C, with an average temperature of 35°C. The humidity levels are higher because of the coastal setting of Dubai, but tend to be lower in the early morning and late evening, making these the best times for outdoor adventures.

To combat the heat, make sure you pack comfortable clothing that works well in the sun. Think about light and breathable fabrics like cotton and linen, sandals and comfortable shoes, sunglasses, sunscreen and a hat. You might want to cool off this month with a range of water-based activities, so bring your swimsuit as well.

Stay fit and happy indoors at Dubai Sports World. This arena at Dubai World Trade Centre caters to all skill levels and offers a range of sports from basketball and football to padel and tennis.

Stay cool this month by popping over for a skating session at Dubai Ice Rink or getting time on the slopes at Ski Dubai. A place to also beat the heat while getting your aquatic adventures in the bag is Deep Dive Dubai. Plunge into the 60.02m-deep pool, discover a ‘sunken city’ and book guided experiences while you’re there.

For entertainment for the whole family, why not pop over to Dubai’s Museum of Illusions, located at Al Seef, where more than 60 interactive and immersive exhibits will dazzle your senses. Don’t forget to snap photos, they’re worth it!

Other ways to stay cool include trying out an escape room, where you have to break free from your themed room (from horror to Harry Potter and more) by solving puzzles before the timer runs out. Some escape rooms across town include NoWayOut in Jumeirah Lakes Towers and Escape Hunt at Galleria Mall. Indoor entertainment destinations such as Play DXB in Dubai Mall and GLITCH in Al Ghurair Centre are great options for games that will keep you busy for hours and suit all ages too.
