Project Chaiwala is a homegrown success story and rightfully deserves all its success. Using Indian street food as the inspiration, founders Ahmed Kazim and Justin Joseph have put their own twist on well-loved classics and are serving up spicy chilli-cheese toast, steaming cups of karak chai and their take on chaat, the Smashosa, alongside toasties, parathas and wraps.

Another big selling point is that this brand is all about showcasing their values, with sustainability and welfare high on the agenda. All of the tea is sourced from Nuxalbari Single Tea Estate in Darjeeling, Plus spices and fresh milks (including dairy alternatives) are sourced locally for daily brewing.

Add spice to your life with Project Chaiwala

From their first location at Alserkal Avenue's Cinema Akil, they've mushroomed with spots across the city, including a popular lunchtime venue at Dubai Media City. The quirky interiors, mixing decor from nostalgic tea rooms with pop-art motifs add to the fun. Ask for your choice of karak in an authentic clay cup, with the rusk served on the side ideal for dunking, while you peruse the straight-forward yet enticing menu.

Fillings for their sandwiches include buttermilk grilled chicken, spicy feta and egg wraps. Those with a sweet tooth can opt for cinnamon-topped maple butter, Nutella or peanut butter wraps and toasties too. An easy, affordable option when you're looking for a spicy, tasty treat or just that perfect cup of tea.

Why not indulge in an afternoon tea, or explore the Alskeral Avenue's other eateries like Wild and the Moon and Nightjar Coffee Roasters?
