Brasserie Boulud
Acclaimed celebrity chef Daniel Boulud has set up shop in the cool Sofitel Dubai The Obelisk. Boulud may have put his name to several other restaurants, but this is his first to open in the Middle East and it has since received a Michelin Bib Gourmand selection.
Inside, the Parisian-themed eatery has an art deco theme, and the large dining room is elegant yet relaxed. Ask for one of the covetable tables with red leather banquettes or take prime position by the open kitchen to watch theatrics by the pass.
Find French fare at Brasserie Boulud
The dishes on the menu are inspired by the different seasons and gleaned from the New York-based chef's modern French recipes. Expect trademark brasserie plates like garlicky escargot snails, salad Nicoise, beef tartare and duck confit served with charred sourdough bread to start.
When it comes to mains, Boulud's signature burger slathered in raclette cheese is wonderfully rich and indulgent, bringing a casual vibe to a cool night out in fine surroundings. Else there are more classic offerings like a buttery trout, peppercorn beef rump or mushroom roast chicken.
Decadent desserts finish the meal off on a high. It's one of the only places in town where you can find the cloud-like vanilla custard dessert Ile Flottante.
