Jumeirah Archaeological Site
Located between Jumeirah Road and Al Wasl Road, with the city’s skyline soaring in the background, the site was once home to a mosque and residential housing, which are no longer visible – yet what remains is sure to capture your attention. More than just a tourist attraction, Jumeriah Archaeological Site is a well-known destination for archaeologists, researchers and historians to come and study the discovered artefacts.
Archaeologists began excavating the site in 1969, uncovering ancient treasures such as pottery, coins, tools and more. Your visit will transport you back to the Abbasid era, between the 9th and 11th centuries, when this former settlement served as a caravan stop along a trading route connecting Iraq and Oman. You can also view a collection of treasures at the exhibition inside Dubai Museum.
