Mimi Kakushi

Creative Japanese with retro vibes

Located in the Restaurant Village at Four Seasons Resort Dubai at Jumeirah Beach, Mimi Kakushi is in good company, counting celebrated restaurants such as Coya and Nusr-Et as neighbours. Step inside and you’ll feel transported to another world with generous use of wood, vintage paintings and pops of green foliage creating an almost homely vibe, while the jazz soundtrack treats you to nostalgic tunes and chefs work on artfully-plated dishes at the open kitchen.

The restaurant is named after a distinctive bob-style haircut that was all the rage in the 1920s – it’s a quirky choice, but one that feels right at home the more time you spend at this dining hotspot. The menu presents a few playful twists to traditional favourites – starters such as wagyu tataki with yuzu daikon, rock shrimp popcorn tempura, and marinated black cod and tiger prawn gyoza are highlights, while mains such as braised short ribs with sweet garlic soy, and steamed king crab leg with ponzu butter sing with flavour.

The desserts are exceptional. If you find it hard to choose just one, opt for the restaurant’s tokoroten, a zingy take on traditional Japanese jelly noodles, or the mango cake with black sesame ice cream – it's all very, very good.
