A short layover in Dubai

5 Places

Just passing through Dubai? Head Downtown and you'll find plenty of fun things to do during a layover. Here's a glimpse of what the city has to offer.

If you’re lucky enough to have a layover in our exciting city, there is no time to waste ticking off as many Dubai attractions as possible. If time is of the essence, dump your bags and head straight for Downtown to discover a multitude of the top things to do in Dubai within a two-mile radius. No matter how fleeting your Dubai stopover is, there is always time for shopping and The Dubai Mall should be top of your list for retail therapy. Featuring over 1,200 stores, two major department stores and hundreds of food and beverage outlets, The Dubai Mall is the world’s largest destination for shopping, entertainment and leisure, covering an area equivalent to 200 football pitches.

When it comes to things to see in the city, you need only head for the mall’s exit to come face to face with The Dubai Fountain, one of the largest performing water features in the world, with jets reaching up to 140m. Look up even further to take in the magnificence of the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa. At 828m in height, the incredible structure has drawn visitors from all over since its opening in 2010. The unmatched Burj Khalifa view can be taken in from not one but two observation decks – the two-storey At the Top on the 124th and 125th floors, as well as one of the world’s highest observation decks (555m) on the 148th floor. If you’ve got time for dinner then CÉ LA VI boasts incredible rooftop views, or head ten minutes down the road to discover one of Dubai’s most famous landmarks, the Museum of the Future.
